Turbines with generators excited by permanent magnets from Krebs & Aulich

Generators excited by permanent magnets are particularly suitable when the main engine runs relatively slowly and high efficiency is to be achieved without any transmission ratio. Even with multi-pole versions, partial load efficiencies of over 96% can be achieved by getting rid of the excitation device.

When installing the PM generators in the bulb around which the water flows, the following additional advantages also arise:

  • extremely compact design, thanks to direct cooling with the engine water
  • very long service life due to low thermal stress
  • generator designed for direct network connection – no converter necessary
  • fewer parts subject to regular wear and tear, turbine bearings also work as generator bearings
